Body found in central Iowa lake identified

(Indianola, IA) -- A body found in Lake Ahquabi Sunday, June 27, 2021 has been identified as 33-year-old Indianola resident Joshua Sweeden.

The Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on the body, but the official cause of death has not yet been determined, pending further investigation and autopsy results.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the body was spotted in Lake Ahquabi 20 yards from shore at approximately 10:15 a.m. in the beach/swimming area.

DNR Parks staff, Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputies and other medical personnel brought the body to shore.
