DES MOINES, Iowa - A man convicted of assaulting another man over a face mask disagreement will serve 10 years in prison.

Shane Michael and the other man got into a physical fight outside an eye wear store in Des Moines after the other man complained that Michael was improperly wearing his mask.

The victim suffered a swollen eye in the fight, and witnesses say Michael was the aggressor.

He was sentenced this week from the outburst that took place in November.

Forty-two-year-old Michael was convicted last month for the conflict that took place at the Vision 4 Less eyewear at 3945 Merle Hay Road in Des Moines.

A jury convicted Michael of willful injury causing serious injury last month.
