DMPS Plans for New Stadium on Hold Over High Construction Costs

(Des Moines, Iowa) -- The Des Moines Public School District's plan to build a new football and soccer stadium complex is being delayed by at least a year longer.

The school board and superintendent have rejected all construction bids for the stadium for being over budget. Superintendent Tom Ahart says the high cost of construction materials has driven all construction bids at least $1.3 million over budget.

The school district says the bidding process will be suspended indefinitely until prices come back down.
