Gov Reynolds Orders State Flags at Half Staff After Georgia Shootings

DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is ordering state flags to be flown at half-staff through Monday after the shootings this week in Georgia.

Eight people, including six women of Asian descent, were killed in a shooting spree at Atlanta area massage parlors.

Governor Reynolds' order is in conjunction with President Joe Biden's order to lower all U.S. flags for the same time length.

Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex. Flags will also be half-staff on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state.

The state is encouraging businesses, schools and local governments to lower their flags as well.
