Sen. Grassley supports Biden's nomination for U.S. Attorney General

Senate Finance Committee Considers Xavier Becerra For HHS Secretary

Iowa U.S. Senator Charles Grassley says he will support the confirmation of Judge Merrick Garland to be the 86th United States Attorney General.

"Even though I still have some concerns, I believe Judge Garland is a good person," Grassley said on the Senate floor on Tuesday. "Particularly, a good person for this job. So I will vote for his confirmation."

The Republican said he doesn't want Judge Merrick Garland to use his role to be a "wingman" to the President.

Grassley praised his credentials and said it would've been hard for Biden to come up with a better pick.

Garland's confirmation vote will be later today.
