IOWA - An expansion of COVID-19 vaccinations across Iowa begins Monday with many counties warning they have a short supply of doses.
Blackhawk County is one of them, reporting it has a fraction of the doses needed.
Monday's expansion opens vaccinations to people 65 and older as well as other frontline workers.
Blackhawk County has an allotment of 800 doses for the expansion, but a population of 20,000 people 65 and older.
Many counties are dealing with the shortage of doses by working with local hospitals and clinics to set up appointment only vaccinations.
It's not known how long it'll take to get supplies to meet the needs in each county.
Governor Kim Reynolds has confirmed there'll be a 16 percent increase in doses delivered to Iowa for the next three weeks, which will not cover the number of people eligible in the next phase (Phase 1B).
