UI Says Johnson County Plans to Secure COVID-19 Vaccines for Students

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa says plans are in place on the county level to ensure its students receive COVID-19 vaccines.

The school says Johnson County Public Health has shared population data with the state to ensure it gets enough vaccines to cover the university's students.

UI says the timing of when the vaccines become available will determine where students choose to receive them, whether at the school or elsewhere.

The school says vaccines will eventually be available through Student Health.

UI also says it's expecting money from the latest federal stimulus package to assist students during the Spring semester.

But the school notes that it's waiting for more information from the U.S. Department of Education to determine how that money will be distributed.
