Iowa Among States With Highest COVID-19 Vaccination Rate

IOWA - Iowa continues to have one of the highest COVID-19 vaccination rates in the country.

As of Thursday morning, more than half the doses delivered to the state (54 percent) have been administered.

That compares to the national rate of only 30 percent.

New Hampshire and Connecticut as well as North and South Dakota appear to be the only states with higher vaccination rates than Iowa.

Vaccine distribution across the country also continues to lag. As of Thursday morning, 17.3 million doses have been delivered nationally. The compares with projections from Operation Warp Speed that more people - 20 million - would receive a vaccine by the end of December.

Almost 3.5 million COVID-19 vaccines have been delivered to the Federal Pharmacy Partnership Program for Long-Term Care, while just over 500,000 doses have been administered to patients and staff at long term care centers nationwide.

The statistics are provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
