Eastern Iowa heroin dealer gets 10-years in prison

(Davenport, IA) -- An eastern Iowa man's been sentenced to 10-years in prison for selling heroin. Police say Eric Rhine of North Liberty and Robert Rankins Junior were accused of getting the drug in Chicago and selling it in Johnson County. Rankins was sentenced earlier this month to seven years in prison.

United States District Court Chief Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered Rhine to serve five years of supervised release as well as pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.

This investigation began in 2018 involving narcotics trafficking between Johnson County and Chicago, Illinois. Rhine admitted the conspiracy was sold more than 1,000 grams of heroin and he was supplying heroin to numerous individuals in the Iowa City/Coralville/North Liberty area.
