Fort Dodge Man Charged in Theft Worth Thousands, Including Gold Teeth

FORT DODGE, Iowa - A Fort Dodge man faces several counts of burglary and theft after police say he stole $1,000 worth of gold teeth as well as thousands more in cash and property.

Officers say they were doing a routine building check when they found Barry Watts with a large amount of cash and burglary tools.

Police says Watts told them he entered the property to get warm, but decided to start taking items after looking around.

Officers say Watts also stole a $5,000 camera while burglarizing several businesses.

He being held in the Webster County Jail.

The Messenger reports Watts is charged with charged with two counts of second-degree theft, second-degree criminal mischief, and three counts of third-degree burglary, all class D felonies, in addition to possession of burglar’s tools, an aggravated misdemeanor.

His court date is December 23rd.
