WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - The West Des Moines school district is dealing with the loss of a teacher from COVID-19 complications.
An email sent to families and staff Monday night said Indian Hills Junior High classroom assistant Jennifer Crawford died.
The district says resources are available to grieving staff and students. The school board says its thoughts and prayers are with Crawford’s family. The district is encouraging cards to be sent to the school, which they will pass along to Crawford's family.
The Des Moines Register reports a spokesperson for the West Des Moines district said Crawford was out of state when she fell ill.
The district's COVID-19 dashboard shows a handful of students and staff have tested positive for the virus in the last week. The dashboard was updated Monday morning,
