Thirty people displaced after Dubuque house explosion

(Dubuque, IA) -- The Red Cross is providing shelter to dozens of people whose homes were impacted by an explosion last (Tuesday) night. The Red Cross says they provided lodging for 12 households last night. The Dubuque Fire Department was called to a home near Loras College because of a gas leak which later fueled a large explosion and fire.

KCRG-TV reports the home was leveled and witnesses said the blast shook buildings nearby.

The city of Dubuque says multiple buildings nearby were damaged and will need to be inspected to determine if they are stable.

One firefighter was injured, the extent of injuries is not known.
