University of Iowa Urging COVID Safety; 107 Students Self Report Infections

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Iowa is urging students to take COVID-19 precautions after 107 students and four employees have self reported cases in the last week.

A welcome message from UI President Bruce Harreld stresses face coverings, hand washing and social distancing.

Nineteen residence hall students at UI students are currently in quarantine, while nine are in self isolation.

The university says it'll share updated numbers every Friday in the COVID-19 Campus Update on its website. UI didn't test any incoming students before classes started.

The University of Iowa has ended four sports - Men's gymnastics, men's and women swimming and diving, men's tennis - due to revenue losses tied to the pandemic after the school's football season was canceled.
