Mediacom Trying To Recover From TV/Internet Outages During Derecho Storm

DES MOINES, Iowa - One of Iowa's major cable TV and internet providers is struggling to restore its service.

Mediacom has reported as many as 340,000 customers lost their cable TV and/or internet.

It says it's identified three major cuts to its fiber network in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Vinton that have led to a large disruption in service.

Mediacom also says it's had to wait for power companies to repair damaged electrical lines before it's been allowed to repair its network.

Bloomberg, New York based Mediacom is the largest cable TV and broadband provider in Iowa, and is the second largest cable TV provider in Illinois.

It's the fifth largest cable TV company in the U.S. based in the number of subscribers, and has a significant concentration of customers in the Midwest and Southeast
