Iowa's Weekly Jobless Claims Down; Overall Jobless Rate Also Down

DES MOINES, Iowa - Iowa's weekly jobless claims are down after rising in the previous week. The latest drop is big, cutting the weekly rate in half.

Ongoing claims for jobless benefits are also down signiificantly, which means the unemployment rate is dropping.

Weekly jobless claims are down to 6,920 from 13,653 in the previous week, a drop of 6,733.

Ongoing claims are down from 178,619 to 165,195, a drop of 13,424.

Unemployment insurance benefit payments totaled $51,043,465.89 for the week, rising from $48,828,481.83 for the previous week.

  • Industry Not Available - Self-employed, Independent Contractors, etc. (553)
