Most Ames city facilities to stay closed through July 1st

AMES, Iowa -- The City of Ames says City Hall and other city facilities are staying closed through July 1st to reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19 coronavirus..

The city says while the Ames Public Library will also stay closed through July 1st, it is moving forward with a curbside pick-up program that could launch in the coming weeks.

The Ames City Council voted this week to cancel the popular downtown Independence Day parade and pancake feed, Municipal Band concerts, and Rummage RAMPage.

The Council delayed making a final decision on opening the city's outdoor aquatic center and the indoor municipal swimming pool until later this month.

The city says customers can conduct City business online or by contacting individual City departments directly.
