Commodity prices in Iowa mixed when compared to a year ago

Doing some catching up here after the shutdown as this report was originally scheduled to be released on December 27th. The average price received by farmers for corn during November in Iowa was $3.40 per bushel according to the latest USDA NASS Agricultural Prices report. This was up $0.01 from the October price and $0.26 above a year ago.

The November 2018 average price received by farmers for soybeans, at $8.49 per bushel, was down $0.22 from the October price and $0.72 below the November 2017 price.

The November average oat price per bushel was $3.61, up $0.62 from October and $0.45 above November 2017.

All hay prices in Iowa averaged $124.00 per ton in November. This was down $4.00 from the October price and $4.00 below the November 2017 price. The November 2018 alfalfa hay price averaged $127.00, down $8.00 from the previous month and $6.00 below November 2017. The average price received for other hay during November was $113.00 per ton. This was down $4.00 from the October price but $10.00 above the November 2017 price.
