Two Iowa teens caught driving 100 mph on interstate

(DES MOINES, Iowa)  The Iowa State Patrol caught a couple of teen-speeders over the weekend, a 17-year old with three passengers was clocked going 100 miles per hour on the interstate, near the east mixmaster.  

The second driver, age 16, was caught going 104 in a 65 mile per hour zone on the west side of the Des Moines metro.

Troopers say the 16-year old's excuse for speeding was that he was late getting home Sunday night.The Iowa State Patrol posted the pictures on its Facebook page, along with a reminder that last year, there were 57-fatalities and nearly 13-thousand crashes on Iowa roads involving drivers between the ages of 14 and 20.
