Further understanding the House Ag Committee Farm Bill

The House Farm Bill has officially been put together and entered into the legislative process. Bill number HR-2 is known as the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018. The bill will be marked up on Wednesday, April 18th. Conaway says most of the 2018 House Farm Bill was put together in a bipartisan manner

Democrats on the committee were vehemently against Republican changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, specifically as it pertains to work requirements. Conaway says there’s a lot of misinformation out there about those proposed changes:

Conaway says he and ranking Democrat Collin Peterson worked well together in writing the rest of the farm bill titles. However, Peterson says these proposed changes to the SNAP program changes are similar to ones that nearly killed the 2014 Farm Bill, but Conaway says that’s not the case:
