DES MOINES, Iowa - We usually have wet springs in Iowa, but the first flood forecast of the year looks - normal.
"I think it's important that we keep monitoring the precipitation trends going forward for any kind of changes to the risk of flooding." National Weather Service Hydrologist Jeff Zogg tells WHO Radio News.
He says heavy spring snow or rain could change the flood forecast for central Iowa.
What about all the snow that's been melting, especially in parts of northern Iowa, where runoff into streams and rivers comes our way?
"Actually, the snow up north was welcome." Zogg says. "We have abnormally dry conditions across Iowa, so the water in the snow pack is welcome across much of the state."
