Should Parents Steer Kids Away From Sports Due To Concussion Risk?

Football is always an attention grabber, especially when discussing concussions, but athletes in other sports are actually at a higher risk for concussion. And, even more alarming, is that girls playing soccer or basketball have a higher concussion risk than male counterparts.

The new study comes from a state-wide survey out of Arizona. The survey shows that parents associate and understand the link between football and severe - and potentially long term damaging - concussions, but many not associate the same with other physical contact sports.

According to the Barrow Neurological Institute in Arizona, cheerleading and soccer also have high rates of concussion.

So is it time to steer our kids away from these sports due to concussion risk?  Dr Brandon Brock joins me with a controversial answer.
