AFSCME re-elects Homan, endorses Bolden for Governor

The union representing the largest number of state employees in Iowa has re-elected Danny Homan as its president.

AFSCME Council 61 held its annual meeting Saturday. In addition to re-electing Homan to the post, the union membership approved an amendment to their constitution that will allow Council 72, which covers Missouri and part of Kansas, to officially be absorbed into Council 61.

The group also announced yesterday they are endorsing one candidate for governor in the 2018 elections.  State Senator Nate Boulton, a Des Moines attorney and first-term state senator, received the organization's endorsement.
