Dry conditions expanding in Iowa

More than half of Iowa is abnormally dry, according to the latest U.S Drought Monitor.   A large part of the state, from northwest to southeast is considered in the Moderate Drought category.   

That includes most of Story County, a section of northeast Polk County, and most of Jasper County.

The U.S Drought Monitor shows North Dakota continues to struggle with extreme conditions.  Most of that state is experiencing some for of drought including two areas in the worst category, "Exceptional Drought."   Montana is also experiencing extreme drought conditions.
