Des Moines man convicted in 17 robberies sentenced

A Des Moines man's been sentenced to 12 years in prison, for a string of robberies at local convenience stores, a bank and a grocery store.

Fifty-seven year old Luke Martin Jr's sentence also includes time for selling drugs.

He distributed Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) to Alexander Hamilton, who distributed drugs to Sarah Cole, Shelly Avery, and Chris Avery.

Authorities say the drug use was the contributing factor in 17 robberies in March and April 2016.

Sentencing for the others are pending.
