Our special guest this morning was Dr. Brad Wilcox of the Mercy Cancer Center. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the State of Iowa...accounting for 23% of cancer deaths in women and 29% of cancer deaths in men. If you are 55 to 74 years of age and have smoked a pack of cigarettes for 30 years or more, are currently smoking or have quit less than 15 years ago, you would be classified at high risk. Mercy now does lung screenings with a low-dose CT of the chest to help catch lung cancer in the early stages so treatment can begin before the cancer becomes more invasive. For more information, call Rose at 855-218-LUNG.
