The Barnstormers and the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival are teaming up this Saturday afternoon and evening to bring you the Bacon Bowl! The tailgate party will feature all sorts of bacon dishes...lots of things for the kids to do...one free beverage...live music by Randy Burk and the Prisoners and more. The party starts at 3PM, tickets are $25.00 which include your ticket to the game. The game begins at 7:05PM when the Iowa Barnstormers take on the Utah Blaze in the battle for the Iowa Bacon Bowl Trophy. During half-time, bags of bacon will float down from the rafters, with 50 of the 400 bags containing a voucher guaranteeing the holder the opportunity to purchase two tickets to the 2014 Bacon Festival before tickets go on sale to the general public in November. The National WWII Museum in New Orleans will have a booth at the Iowa State Fair with a fund raiser for the restoration of the PT305 Higgins boat built in New Orleans. The boat is scheduled to be launched in March 2015. Many Iowans served on PT boats during WWII. They are looking for volunteers to help man the booth.
