Subject: Kate Shelley High Bridge (high resolution photograph)

Van and Bonnie, loyal listeners here. I have sent in a couple of photo's in the past but I think you will find this is pretty unique. My colleague and I are participating in a beta program of a robotic picture taking device that creates super high res photographs (gigapixels). The project, called the Gigapan project is a joint project between Google, Carnegie Mellon University, and NASA.

After hearing one of your callers talk about the new construction to replace the Kate Shelley High Bridge, we decided to test out our new toy by taking a "Gigapan" of the bridge.

This result is a composite, [high resolution] photo, comprised of over 50 source photographs.

If you are interested, you can see the results at:

http://www.mediagrapher.com
http://gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=4124

If you look closely, you can actually see workers high up on the new concrete foundations. Hope you find this interesting.

Loyal fans,

Tom Hawbaker and Scott Bellis, Mediagraphers

*Incidentally, we're reminded that HDTV (high-definition television) is one kind of digital television, but not all digital television is high-definition.  And TV's digital signals are not to be confused with Radio's.  The "HD" in "HD Radio" stands for hybrid-digital, not high-definition.

ERIC LEG LAMP
An employee at Anderson Erickson created this lamp using one of Eric’s damaged legs.  He discovered the legs in a closet where they were being stored until repairs were finalized.  Using “The Christmas Story” film as inspiration, he decided to try his hand at making a lamp.

Corndog Chomp

Thanks to Lori Blake, who took several photos of the 'Chomp'.

Van & Bonnie listener Thomas Hawbaker sent us these links, which are amazing images of the 11,000 people that sat in the state fair grandstands during the Van & Bonnie Corndog Chomp.

We're told that 42,000 entered the fairgrounds before 8:30 for the Thursday morning 'Chomp' and the day's attendance was 101,000, up from last year's 76,000.  That's a lotta corndogs!
