Greetings Tractor Ride enthusiasts!
The colors of the fall season will be here very soon and producers will be in the fields with the harvest, but as you know, many of you make time to enjoy a day off -- especially if we say, "Tractor Ride!"
And as it turns out, Bob Quinn needs to get it out on the road for a day trip, so we've arranged another One-Day Fall Ride on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 beginning at 9:00 AM and ending around 3:00 PM.
Our initial location this year will be at the Farm Progress site outside Boone on US Highway 30. There we'll unload and have breakfast. After that we'll head south through beautiful Ledges State Park for the day before returning to the Farm Progress site to load up and head home.
The first 65 drivers to sign up will secure a spot on the ride. There's no fee and all breaks and lunch will be provided, but we do ask for a $25.00 donation to the Mark Pearson Scholarship Endowment. (Download application here).
Schedule
| 7:00 AM | Unload; meet & greet; breakfast courtesy of Titan Tire |
| 8:30 AM | Driver briefing and introductions |
| 9:00 AM | Ride starts |
| 10:00 AM | Morning break with snacks |
| 11:30 AM | Big Show Lunch |
| 1:00 PM | Ride continues |

NOTE: Returning One-Day Fall Ride drivers will be given preference on a first come, first served basis; drivers new to the Fall Ride will be invited to register beginning September 24th as openings permit. Again, we can only accommodate 65 drivers on the Fall Ride.
If you have any questions, please contact Janine at 515-245-8933.
Thank you and have a safe Harvest!
Dear Great Iowa Tractor Ride Participant,
During the Ride this year we noticed that some of the white driver shirts became discolored when worn out in the sun before being washed. After talking to the printer, we discovered that this discoloring might be a result of a new printing process we used this year that allowed us to more accurately print our sponsor logos.
Part of this new process was a pre-treatment layer that was sprayed on the shirts before the ink was applied. The printer said that some of the shirts may have received too heavy of a pre-treatment layer, which would explain the discoloring. The printer also told us that the best way to wash out this pre-treatment layer is to wash the shirts in cold water the first time.
If your shirt became discolored and remained discolored after washing -- whether it was washed in cold or hot water -- please email us with your name, address and shirt size and the printer will re-print the shirts needed at no cost to you.
Deadline for responding is July 10, 2012. Replacement shirts will be printed and mailed to you after that date.
We appreciate your support.
The WHO Radio staff would like to thank all the drivers and their families for making the 16th WHO Tractor Ride a great memory! We all started the ride with heavy hearts but with great stories and the Pearson Family joining us, the ride quickly changed to a celebration of Mark Pearson's life and his love for the ride. We are a family that will continue to have a celebration each year to honor the founders of the this great event Mark Pearson and Gary Wergen began. See you all next year on Sunday, June 23rd.
We have a rear view mirror from a John Deere Tractor that was found on Wednesday morning at the Fairgrounds. It's a Wood's Powr-grip mirror. Please call Janine if it is yours. 515-245-8933.
Thanks!
Sunday, June 24th will be the day we gather for the 16th Annual WHO Tractor Ride but without the two founders of the ride. We may find ourselves feeling a little sad without their presence but it won't last long if you knew Mark, because a smile or even a giggle will occur as you remember a story or something he did on the ride. We want everyone to share stories, pictures and items that created a memory for you. Please go through your pictures and bring a written story that we can post in a special area in the registration building. Please remember to add your name to all items as we will want you to take them home on Tuesday night. The WHO Staff and the Pearson Family have created a video of pictures that will play continuously play all day Sunday and each afternoon as Tractors come back from the days route.
We will also be doing some activities as the "WHO Tractor Family" each day on the ride.
Monday
John Deere "70" Day
All Tractor Drivers can get a Special Decal at the CTI (Centerville Tractor & Implement) Booth to display on your tractor on Monday. The Decal was created just for the WHO Tractor Ride by CTI and is in Memory of Mark Pearson. All donations for the decals will go directly to the Heifer Foundation in which Mark supported. Drivers are not limited to just one decal. All Drivers are encouraged to wear their John Deere Green on Monday!
Tuesday
Dew Rag Tuesday!
No one could wear a Dew Rag on their head while driving a tractor better than Mark Pearson so please pick up your Dew Rag for Tuesday during registration from Frank at G & L Clothing or Jane at Titan Tire…you can wear it around your head or around your neck….or just hang it from your Tractor.
Wednesday
Reverse yadsendeW
Yes, we are going to reverse the order the Tractors as they leave on Wednesday Morning. The Yellow group (14 mph) will lead us out of town with the Blue Group bringing up the rear! Since we are reversing the Tractors feel free to reverse other items or articles of clothing.
Thank you for participating in the 16th Annual WHO Tractor Ride!
