In past years, the WHO Tractor Ride has divided riders by numbered groups. This year, we’ll divide you into groups by color. We’ve gone through the list, put you with your friends, and divided you into groups of 50 - 60. Due to the size of our Break and Lunch locations we cannot just let you go when you want to this year. Break locations have room for roughly 50 tractors, so groups will need to be about that size. You won’t be able to change around this year, as in past years, or we won’t fit!
We have 9 groups of tractors this year. To help keep us all in the right group, you’ll be given a colored number to place on your tractor. If you’re assigned a red tractor number, you’ll be required to ride only with the red group. There’ll still be lots of chances to spend time with riders from other groups when we’re not actually on the ride course.
We’ll be sending out your group assignment very soon. Look it over carefully and make sure you are in the group you plan to ride with all three days. If not, please call us ASAP at 515-245-8900 and ask for Pat. The tractors are divided by speed into 10, 12 and 14 mph groups. Group Leaders and Tail Drivers will stay the same, but we won’t have 11 and 13 mph groups this year…those two will be moved into 12 or 14 mph groups. It's something new, and it’ll work fine if we all ride with our friends in the proper groups.
Each day the 10 mph group will start us off…followed by the 12 mph groups and, finally, the speed demons in the 14 mph groups. The order of the 12 and 14 mph groups will vary each day, so you’ll need to follow your color route card. If you were in the Red group, and you left in the second group Monday, you may leave in the fourth group on Tuesday and the third group on Wednesday. Oh, what fun you’ll have! Just read your route card and you’ll be just fine. Remember, it’s about having fun!
There’ve been lots of changes to make the 2012 ride different, fun and more exciting! If you have any concerns – or you want more explanation – please call Janine at 515-245-8933.
