Tractor Ride Survey
Friday 06-26-2009 3:23pm CT
In all of the confusion, I forgot to hand out the survey. So, here it is online. You can actually fill this out right on your computer, and hit submit, and I will receive it electronically.
If you'd rather send it by postal mail and remain anonymous, that's great too. Just hit print, fill it out by hand, and pop it in the mail. We are always looking for ways to improve this event.

Photos and Storm Stories!
Friday 06-26-2009 3:20pm CT
Hey there everyone!
Just thought I would send out a request for storm stories and general Ride photos. I'd love to have a nice photo gallery built here on the site, so if you have some photos you can send to me, I'd love to have them. Just e-mail them to me at MollyPins@ClearChannel.com.
Thanks to those of you who have sent in your survey. If you don't want to submit those electronically, just print out that page, fill it out by hand, and mail it in. The address is included on the bottom of the page. We are always open to suggestions to improve this event!
I'm working to collect addresses and contact names for thank you notes. I hope to have that posted here by Monday, June 29th.
Thanks, as always for everything you do to make this event great!

MILES!
Friday 06-26-2009 3:20pm CT
Oh yes, and here's one more thing I promised I would post: the mileages for each day. I'm pretty sure there was something else that I said I would put here, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it is.
If you can think of something I should post here that I haven't, please let me know at MollyPins@ClearChannel.com.
Here's a look at mileages for each leg of the route:
Monday, June 22 Waterloo - Waverly (morning) 36 miles
Waverly - Waterloo (afternoon) 33 miles
Tuesday, June 23 Waterloo - Independence (morning) 36.5 miles
Independence - Waterloo (afternoon) 43 miles
Wednesday, June 24 Short route around Waterloo (morning) 27 miles
WHAT A GREAT RIDE!
Thursday 06-25-2009 4:28pm CT
WOW! What a fantastic Ride! I feel a little like the US Postal Service, we deliver through rain, or hail, or wind, or heat and humidity, or whatever else Mother Nature throws at us!
There's so much to say on a day like this, I don't even know where to start. So I guess I'll start with saying thank you. And even that could take all day, as there are literally hundreds of people to thank. First of all, I want to thank my staff. They are an absolutely incredible group of people, and I am honored to be surrounded by them. They make me look great, and that's not always the easiest job!
I am also grateful to the wonderful cities and facilities who served as our hosts. Waterloo, Waverly, and Independence went above and beyond the call of duty to make us feel welcome in each of their communities. The Waverly Fairgrounds, the Heartland Agribition Center, and the Electric Park Ballroom all worked tirelessly to make sure we had everything we needed, when we needed it. To all of them, I say thanks.
It's no secret that this year's law enforcement assistance was absolutely unbelievable. I cannot say enough good things about the county sheriff's departments, the police departments and the State Patrol for all of their hard work to keep us safe. In a later posting, I'll give you all of the names and addresses to send notes if you so choose.
When that storm hit on Tuesday night, I'll be the first to admit, I was scared. But looking back, I should have known that the people of Buchanan and Black Hawk counties would take good care of us. The storm stories are incredible. Thanks to the Bible Fellowship Church in Jesup who housed hundreds of stranded drivers. My most sincere thanks to Betty Seamans, who ran into the road to pull tractors over and provide shelter for the riders in her basement. Thanks to our new friends at the Co-op in Jesup, who housed even more riders. And then there's the Craig and Mary Kay Schafer family, who pulled a group into their machine shed and served them popcorn and Kool-aid while they waited out the storm. And those are just the stories I've heard. I know there are many more of you out there who helped. And to those unnamed angels, we say thanks.
And last, but certainly not least, I thank all of you. Taking up a collection at the Jesup church was so thoughtful and so kind. Thanks to Bruce Roorda (sorry, I had the wrong name in yesterday's meeting) and Cliff Mulder and the rest of you who got that effort started and made contributions. Your smiles, encouragements, and "great jobs" kept me and my staff going even in the hottest weather and toughest moments. All of you are why I love my job and why after 13 years, I keep doing it.
I'm working now to collect photos, stories, and other memories. As soon as I figure out the collection method, I'll post it here. I'm also working on getting the survey posted here. In all the confusion, I simply forgot to hand it out yesterday!
I'll continue to post information here as it becomes available. In the meanwhile, if you have a question or comment for me, just email me at MollyPins@ClearChannel.com.

A new map!
Thursday 06-11-2009 5:25pm CT
At long last I was finally able to create a new map and post it on the site today. Take a look at it by clicking on "Map" on the left of the screen. However, I was notified late this afternoon that we may have to adjust the route around Jesup a little. Stay tuned, I'll keep you posted as more details emerge.
How many of you have ordered your P Buckley Moss print? I know I've got my order in! It's going to look great on my RED office wall.
Speaking of looking great, the T-shirts came in today. I must say, they look pretty cool. Thanks to our friends at G&L Clothing for making us look fantastic on the Ride!
That's all of got right this minute ... more details to come as the become available.

Tractor Ride Updates
Thursday 06-11-2009 12:55pm CT
Oh my goodness, I can't believe we are now just 10 days out from the start of the Tractor Ride! Amazing how fast the time goes, isn't it!! I've been talking to the weather Gods pretty regularly, hoping to keep this mild weather in place!
Some items of note:
MEALS As promised, you can find the menus here. MenusAgain, if your meal intentions have changed since filling out your registration form, please let me know. The caterers are asking for numbers, and I want to be as accurate as possible.
SUNDAY TRACTOR PARKING AND UNLOADING We've had a change to the way we are going to handle tractor unloading at John Deere on Sunday. If you have a drop-down trailer behind a truck, and don't need a loading dock, you may unload the tractor on the north side of the plant. You will enter at the employee entrance off Donald Street. For those of you who were there in 2005, that's where you unloaded then too, so hopefully it's familiar.
Our good friends at John Deere asked me to remind you all again that no one will be allowed on the site prior to 9 AM on Sunday, June 21. I ask that you please respect their rules and not arrive early.
The name badges arrived yesterday and the T-shifrts should be here soon, so we are rocking and rolling! I hope you have your tractors tuned up and shined up, because we're about ready to roll!
See you soon! Molly Pins WHO Radio Great Iowa Tractor Ride

Final Driver Information Packet
Wednesday 06-03-2009 11:28am CT
Good afternoon all!
Some of you are probably wondering as to the whereabouts of your final driver letter and information packet. I am hoping to have those put in the mail on Monday, June 8. I will include a map of Waterloo, menus, and other "good stuff".
I'm also working on a new route map. While on the route on June 1, we encountered a closed road. As soon as I get that figured out, we'll post a new map.
One item of note: We will not hold an organized meal on Tuesday night at Electric Park Ballroom. Waterloo is a really nice town, with fantastic places to eat, so we thought we'd let you go explore. In your final drivers' packet, I'll include a list of restaurants within walking distance of the Ramada Hotel. There is also a great restaurant right in the Ramada. If you are staying at the Casino, there are several really nice dining options within the Casino complex.
We will still hold a (brief) drivers' meeting on Tuesday night.
Things are coming together amazingly well. If you have questions or concerns, I can be reached at MollyPins@ClearChannel.com or (515) 245-8838.
See you in 18 days!
Best wishes, Molly Pins Tractor Ride "Queen"
