The average retail heating oil price in Iowa jumped $.12 cents this week, closing at $3.77.  Iowa average retail diesel prices climbed $.09, finishing at $4.08.

                                 

Crude Oil Summary

The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.50 per barrel over last week, closing at $92.39.

 Brent crude oil also rose in price this week, currently at $114.33 per barrel, rising $1.75 from the previous week.

 One year ago WTI crude sold for $85.81 and Brent crude was at $109.49.

 Motor Fuels

As of Tuesday, October 9th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.76 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is $.05 lower than last week and up $.42 from one year ago.  The national average on Tuesday was $3.81, down $.03 from last week’s price. 

 Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa rose $.09 on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $4.08.   One year ago diesel prices averaged $3.68 in Iowa.   The current Iowa diesel average is $.03 per gallon lower than the national average of $4.11.

Wholesale ethanol prices rose this week by $.04, closing at $2.41. The price of Mid-Grade Blend in Iowa (10% ethanol) closed at $3.68 per gallon, down $.04 from last week’s price and up $.42 from one year ago.

Heating Fuels

Propane prices rose a penny from last week’s figures with a statewide average of $1.36 per gallon.  Home heating oil rose $.12 from last week’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $3.77 per gallon.  Natural Gas prices in Iowa fell $.04 from last week’s report, ending the week at $3.18 / MMbtu.
