There was a slight increase in unleaded retail gasoline and diesel prices this week.    The Iowa average unleaded retail gasoline price rose $.02 to finish the week at $3.75.  Iowa average retail diesel closed the week at $4.00, also up $.02.

 Crude Oil Summary

The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $1.03 per barrel over last week, closing at $95.30.

 Brent crude oil rose in price this week, finishing at $113.32 per barrel on Tuesday’s close, rising $.70 from the previous week.

 One year ago WTI crude sold for $86.02 and Brent crude was at $115.92.

 Motor Fuels

As of Tuesday, September 4th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.75 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is $.02 higher than last week and up $.08 from one year ago.  The national average on Tuesday was $3.82, up $.02 from last week’s price. 

 Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were up $.02 on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $4.00.   One year ago diesel prices averaged $3.84 in Iowa.   The current Iowa diesel average is $.11 per gallon lower than the national average of $4.11.

 Wholesale ethanol prices fell this week by $.05, closing at $2.53. The price of Mid-Grade Blend in Iowa (10% ethanol) closed at $3.67 per gallon, up $.01 from last week’s price and up $.08 from one year ago.

 Heating Fuels

Natural Gas prices in Iowa rose $.15 from last week’s report, ending the week at $2.86 / MMbtu.
