Systemic Neonicotinoid Houseplant Insecticides, can be helpful for difficult to control pests susch as Mealybugs. They can also cause an outbreak of spider mites, which can be even harder to control.

Here is a representative online label from Bonide Systemic Granules.  There are several major brands on the market labeled for houseplants. Look at any garden center or hardware store, etc.

Older products such as di-sulfoton are acutely poisonous - read the label - and smell bad. Avoid them.
