Plant & Insect Diagnostic Clinic: Squash Bug
Honeybees are important, but Squash Bees may be even more so. They are active when hoenybees may not be. Because of this Eileen recommends against general use insecticides like Sevin on squash. Insecticidal soap, handpicking egg masses, and a shop vac for nymphs and adults are probably better for home gardeners. If you suck up a squash bee or two, there will be more in the area. If the plant is poisonous, any insect visitor will be affected.
