The squash vines are starting to run. This means the Squash Vine Borer will be looking for a place to lay eggs. Extension Entomology at Purdue University has published a short list of common vegetable insects, the SVB is Number 9. SVB's love zucchini's hollow stems.Many gardeners grow Butternut Squash because it is a good squash with solid stems. Waltham is a common variety.
