Van and Bonnie want to experience the wafting smells of Thanksgiving dinner being prepared....so we are asking you to bring your Easy Bake Oven into our studio on Thanksgiving morning and make one item of our dinner! Each participant will receive a gift card from thee Iowa Machine Shed Restaurant and one lucky person will receive one of the brand new Easy Bake Ovens that bakes without a light bulb, also courtesy of the Iowa Machine Shed Restaurant. Register to be one of our participants by going to www.whoradio.com and pick one of the menu items you would be willing to prepare. Winners will be announced November 18th.
Karen McNeese of Operation Christmas Child was our guest in the studio just after the 8:30 news. It's time once again to fill a shoebox for a child for Christmas! This year's boxes that come from Iowa will go to Madagascar, Zambia, Kenya and Tanzania. Boxes can be filled for either a boy or a girl, ages 2-4, 5-8 and 9-12. Boxes are available at area churches and Christian Stores...or you can use a regular shoe box or a plastic box the size of a shoe box. Collection week is November 18th thru the 25th. For more information, go to the Facebook page of Operation Christmas Child Des Moines or www.SamaritansPurse.org. Karen also brought in a fantastic Pumpkin Apple Cider Cake and I will put the recipe on the recipe page at www.whoradio.com.
