Des Moines Police have arrested a driver they say was drunk when he hit and killed a motorcyclist last month.

35-year old Kristofer Lee Zech is now facing charges for the crash that killed 22-year old Spencer Rush on March 30th.

He was arrested on Wednesday night and booked into the Polk County Jail.

Police say Zech failed to yield to Rush on his motorcycle, resulting in the fatal crash near the Iowa State Capitol last month.

Rush was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to DMPD.
