(Linn County, IA) -- The Linn-Mar School District's insurance company will pay 20-thousand dollars to settle a lawsuit over a gender-identity policy.

The board adopted a policy that allowed students to share their gender identities confidentially with staff. It also directed students and staff to identify a student by their chosen name and pronouns.

The policy prompted a lawsuit. The policy has since been rescinded.
