Iowa Woman's Body Found Near Lake Identified, Man Charged

(Iowa County, IA) -- There's an update to a case involving a woman's body found at Amana Lily Lake Sunday, February 18th. The body is that of 20-year-old Melody Hoffman of Marion. A Hiawatha man, 23-year-old McKinley Louisma, is facing kidnapping and conspiracy to commit forcible felony charges.

Criminal charges have been filed in Linn County District Court.

An autopsy of Melody Hoffman has been performed at the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny, Iowa. A final report from the Medical Examiner is pending.I

Iowa's News Now reports according to court documents, Louisma and Hoffman had been in a relationship. The criminal complaint states investigators determined Louisma picked up Hoffman at 11 p.m. on February 17.

Louisma admitted he was with Hoffman and another person, and claims the two others bound Hoffman with duct tape at Morgan Creek Park. He told police they then put her in the trunk of the car and drove to several locations before arriving at Amana Lily Pond in Iowa County.
