Omaha man accused of assaulting woman, exploding vehicle

(Omaha, NE) -- An Omaha man is accused of assaulting a woman at her home and throwing an explosive device at her vehicle.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says a woman reported a man she knew kicked in her front door and physically assaulted her on the morning of Wednesday, November 15.

The woman says as the man left the residence, he threw an explosive device at the woman's parked vehicle as he drove away. Police say it detonated and caused significant damage.

Wednesday evening, DCSO arrested the man without incident, identified as 41-year-old Nicholas Thomas. He's in custody at the Douglas County Department of Corrections for Use of an Explosive Device to Damage Property, Criminal Mischief, and Domestic Violence Assault - 3rd Degree.
