(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Cedar Rapids City Council passed a controversial zoning change last night. The move allows Cedar Rapids Country Club to build a new inflatable outdoor tennis court. Neighbors who fought the project are calling it bad politics. One neighbor told Iowa News Now that neighbors of major retailers receive more consideration over parking and other property issues than residents of the Country Club Heights neighborhood have been given.

Mayor Tiffany O'Donnell, and councilman Tyler Olson, both members of the Country Club refused to recuse themselves from voting in favor of the plan. City Council recently modified its ethics rules to limit conflicts to financial ones.
