(Undated) -- A mountain lion has been spotted in Indianola. The Indianola Police Department says the Iowa Department of Natural Resources has confirmed that the mountain lion was caught on camera in northwest part of the city.

The DNR asks that mountain lion sightings be reported, by calling 641-357-3517 or by emailing vince.evelsizer@dnr.iowa.gov.

The DNR says mountain lions typically avoid humans and are looking for deer. Wildlife biologists with the DNR expect the mountain lion will move on as it searches for prey in new territory.
