The City of West Des Moines had designated part of Maple Street in Valley Junction in memory of two long-time supporters of the area. Johnny E. Long, Jr. and Barbara Long were instrumental in the creation of the Eddie Davis Community Center. Honorary road signs were unveiled in a ceremony on Friday. Signs will mark a span of Maple Street between 1st and 14th Streets.
