(Iowa City, IA) -- The University of Iowa is hosting a donation drive to help Hawaiians recover from this month's wildfires.

The wildfires killed at least 114 people and displaced more than 11,000 people.

Nanea Estrella, a member of the first-ever Hawkeyes women's wrestling team, is a Lahaina, Hawaii, native.

"A bunch of my old teammates, they all lost everything. Luckily, they're all accounted for," said Estrella. "My family, we're in a position to help and we're doing our best to get out there."

Before flying to Iowa City for the start of the fall semester, Estrella postponed her trip to help her community. Now, she hopes Iowans can send aid.

"To anybody that has toys and sports equipment," said Estrella. "If they're willing to give to affected children, they've lost everything in these fires."

The University of Iowa asks for gently used or new Hawkeye gear and children's toys for the drive. Donations can be dropped off at Iowa Book in Iowa City through Wednesday, September 6th.

A virtual food drive is also available, where every $1 donated provides 4 meals to children and youth in Maui County.
