(Indianola, Carlisle, IA) -- Starting Wednesday, August 23rd, police in Indianola and Carlisle will be starting a special traffic enforcement project that will last throughout the week as the school year gets underway.

The city of Indianola says people can expect to see police in various locations throughout the city before each school day as part of its "Slow Down! School's Back in Session" traffic safety project. Officers will primarily be looking for speeders, but all traffic violations will be enforced. Indianola PD will also partner with the Carlisle Police Department to increase the number of officers on the roads. The partnership will use funds from the Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau.

School starts for students in grades K-12 in both the Indianola and Carlisle school districts on Wednesday, August 23rd.
