Judge Deciding Fate For A Davenport Man's Trial

(Davenport, IA) -- A judge, not a jury, will decide the guilt or innocence of a man accused of kidnapping and killing a Davenport girl three years ago.

On Tuesday, 51-year-old Henry Dinkins accused of kidnapping and killing 10-year-old Breasia Terrell in Davenport in 2020, waived his right to a jury trial.

Jury selection was to start Tuesday in Linn County where the trial was moved due to publicity surrounding the case.

Instead the trial will move back to Scott County.

Dinkins, a registered sex offender, is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping.

If convicted, he faces a life sentence without parole.
