(Des Moines, IA) -- All across the Des Moines metro and much of Iowa, local police agencies will be taking time for the annual National Night Out tradition.
It's a chance for police officers to engage with the local residents they serve.
It's often used as an opportunity for young children to become more familiar with their local police officers as well.
The free event will be from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Polk County Sheriff's Office and will include indoor and outdoor activities.
Along with activities, there will be giveaways, live demonstrations, food, community resources, opportunities to meet the staff and more.
