Woman Critical After Being Shot By Stray Bullet In Southern Iowa

(Adams County, IA) -- A woman's in critical condition after being shot in southern Iowa. The Adams County Sheriff's Office says a minor was handling a gun when it discharged shortly after 12 p.m. July 4th, at 3140 210th Street in rural Adams County, Iowa. The bullet went thru a bedroom wall and shrapnel hit 63-year-old Connie Standley in the face. She hospitalized at Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines.

This is an on-going investigation by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
