Benson Area Fatal Crash Victim Identified

The name of a woman, who died in a three-vehicle crash involving five people, has been released by police as the investigation continues.

Omahan Police accident investigators say 76-year-old Melody Stephens of Omaha, a passenger in one of the vehicles involved, died at a hospital from her injuries.

The crash was Tuesday afternoon on the Northwest Radial Highway near 50th Street.

Police say a 78-year-old man driving a Kia Forte was operating the vehicle slowly on the Radial and tried to make a left turn onto 50th from the far right lane.

They say a Nissan crashed into another vehicle while avoiding the Kia.

The Kia driver, identified by police as 78-year old Robert Williams, continued to make the turn when the Kia was hit by a westbound pickup.

Investigators say all three drivers and another passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
