(Linn Co., IA) -- There's an air quality alert in place for Linn County.

The public health department issued the statement yesterday saying they're keeping an eye on elevated ozone levels.

The department says chest pain, coughing, throat irritation, and congestion could occur if out in the conditions too long, especially in the afternoon.

Children, older adults, people with breathing-related health issues, and those planning on being active outside are encouraged to reconsider time outdoors over the next few days.

The alert will likely be in place for the rest of the week.
